That's who I think the greatest guitarist is... I know I'll have some nay sayers, but Page is a god. Clapton and Hendrix are next, but Jimmy Page is the fucking man! Not to mention he was in one of the most successful bands of all time!

Greatest Rock song of all time.... Page on the dual lead.

don't feel like reading the rest of this thread, but i'll just post my faves

Megadeth
Metallica
Dream Theater
Trivium
Rammstein
Avenged Sevenfold
Days of the New
Iced Earth / Demons and Wizards
Kamelot

and some older stuff like

Boston
CCR
The Eagles
The Doors

if i had to pick a favorite right now, it'd be a toss up between Megadeth and Dream Theater. they both just came out with new albums which are very good. still not quite as good as some of their older stuff but still quite impressive.

but what's your favorite non-popular Floyd album?

The Final Cut, hands down.

Also, the next person that disses System gets a sharp stick in the eye. I'm kinda surprised nobody mentioned Incubus. Not one of my top ten bands, but they're one of the few modern era bands that actually has talent. System, Floyd, Tool/APC, old school Metallica/Megadeth, and Zepplin are probably my list toppers. The Beatles showed some promise, but they were too random in their styles for me. Drugs definitely helped them as a band, but they really never got completely away from the "bubblegum" that made them famous.

As an aside, if you aint seen The Wall trippin balls, you aint seen The Wall!

Haha, Geek. It took me 20 mins to read this entire thread to see who talked shit on them! I used to not care for them but after that album with BYOB on it I started listening to their older stuff and I started to really like em. Lots of good presently relevant political songs. I'll still take Rage over them any day!

I Wish You Were Here was their best song, other than that, they're non-existant as far as I'm concerned.

Have you ever listened to one of their CDs or are you just judging them by what the radio deems is fit for you to listen to?

I don't see how anyone could have listened to one of their good albums and say that Wish You Were Here is their best song. Incubus' older stuff is good; the newest album was a steaming pile of crap.

System of a Down is definitely one of the better recent/popular bands. The self-titled, Toxicity, and Mesmerize, are all good albums. I was really disappointed by Hypnotize, though.

Listen to Abbey Road or Sgt. Pepper. No poppy shit in there. Magical Mystery Tour!!!!! COME ON! I am confident in saying that any shit talking on System of a Down would be GREATLY overlooked by anyone talking shit on The Beatles. There isn't a decent modern artist who can't say they were influenced by The Beatles. You can't talk shit on perfection, and the only band to reach absolute perfection was The Mother Fucking Beatles. Cool

Saying that they "showed promise" is probably the greatest understatement of the century.

I could go on and on about why The Beatles are the greatest band ever, and why their songs will stand the test of time... unlike these modern political songs that are springing up today.... in three years they will be irrelevant, but the great songs like "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" will still be listened to!
