AW well, as you can see in my first post, i like 60's and 70's rock, hardcore, punk, heavy metal, hairbands, new wave, jazz, skaa, and a little screamo. anything but country, rap, and most numetal. i would say that qualifies as a broad range of music that i dig. and i would never dogg on tool or slipknot. they still rock my socks. i like OLD korn and mudvayne. so there!
i have "dark side of the moon". i have listened to the whole thing. while i don't deny that they were a very important and influential band in terms of the progression of rock and roll, i must admit, listening to the entire album will put me to sleep unless i smoke a j or eat some shrooms or something....
True, I guess you have to really like them to listen to it not "fucked up." I have that, the two "The Wall" cd's, and "Wish you Were Here" in my cd player in my car and I listen to them constantly looped. I have other shit in there too but I usually change back to a pink floyd disc once it goes to something else.
I forgot to say that I love Will Smith. Hes the man to me, ever since the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air days (I have seen almost every episode, I love Nick at Nite!) The band Wolfmother is incredible. I heard it at my friends house and its an awesome rock band--best song is Joker & The Thief.
And Loser: Those Apples are delicious!

Jackal, I think this may have come up before, but what's your favorite non-popular Floyd album? I'd have to go with Meddle followed by Obscured By Clouds as my favorite lesser-known albums.
Definitely their first album, hobbit, "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn", the one with Syd Barrett, before he dropped too much LSD, went insane, and had to be replaced by David Gilmour, who ended up being the lead vocalist and contributing songwriter on their great albums like "Dark Side Of The Moon." There are a lot of trippy ass tracks on "Gates of Dawn." Some of the songs on that album, from '67, sound like many of the Beatles songs did after they started experimenting with drugs around that same time... Sgt Pepper was from 67 as well. "Animals" was an awesome album too.
Even though "Dark Side of the Moon" and "The Wall" are their best, my favorite album of theirs is "Wish You Were Here." I know it's not a "lesser known" album, but the songs are awesome and mean something. It's a tribute to Syd I'm pretty sure. There's one song on there, cant remember the name, but it's all about him.
EDIT: "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" is the song that's all about Syd Barret from "Wish You Were Here"
"You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon."
As far as Wolfmother goes. I really like them. They're instrumentals sound a hell of a lot like Led Zeppelin and so does their singer, actually. No where near as good and never will be, but it still reminds me of Zeppelin every time I hear them. Bemo, if you like Wolfmother, download "Heartbreaker", "Good Times Bad Times", and "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin. They sound very similar, along with a lot of their other songs. Hell, just down everything Zeppelin does, it's AALLLLL good. The beginning of that "Joker and the Thief" song, which I'm sure is a reference to Bob Dylans "All Allong the Watch Tower," is almost identical to the guitar in the middle of "Dazed and Confused" by Zeppelin. Also an AWESOME song!!! And "Woman" sounds like a dulled down version of "Communication Breakdown" by Zeppelin where in Wolfmother uses a lot of the same power chords and not a lot, or any of the face melting, finger bleeding solos that Jimmy Paige of Led Zeppelin uses!!
Man, I wish Rock History was a college major!

I was going to say Piper at The Gates Of Dawn but Jackal took that one. I'd have to say Division Bell. Listen to High Hopes off of Division Bell, wicked good song.
Also Jackal, Roger Waters took over the band and became lead vocalist/song writer. :p

"YOU! INVADERS! GET YOU THE HOT BULLETS OF SHOTGUN TO DIE!!!"
Waters was responsible for the majority of the lyrics, especially the crazy ones, because he was obsessed with insanity because of what happened to Barrett, but Gilmour was the primary vocalist for "Dark Side of the Moon" and until after the "Wish You Were Here" album when Waters got jealous and took over control of the band, look it up! Waters was completely responsible for "The Wall," it was basically his life in a bunch of songs. I know my Floyd, bitch!
Did you ever see "The Wall" movie, BTW? Crazy ass awesome movie, makes you feel like you're tripping when you're sober. It's all about Roger Waters' life and it deals with how his father was killed at Anzio in WWII. Thought I'd throw that in there to tie in with DoD!!! I'm pretty sure it's Syd Barret's voice that says "you can't have any pudding if you don't eat your meat" at the end of Another Brick in the Wall II but I'm not positive about that.
Top Pink Floyd songs:
.Wish You Were Here
.Time
.Comfortably Numb
.Mother
.Learning To Fly
.Nobody Home
Well this is my first post and what better way to make a post then to revive an almost dead topic .
My favorite bands at the moment are\
AC/DC
As I Lay Dying
Atreyu
All That Remains
Bullet For My Valentine
Bury Your Dead
Devildriver
Dry Kill Logic
Everytime I Die
It Dies Today
Killswitch Engage
Nine Inch Nails
Nothingface
Nonpoint
Project 86
Saliva
Still Remains
When I wanna go a little more mellow I really like a new band called Seemless, or a little John Lee Hooker and B.B. King
And my guilty pleasures that I am almost scared to admit that I like are
Hed PE, Skindred, Dark New Day, and Mindless Self Indulgence
I know this is old but I've got to change my favorite "lesser known" Floyd album to 1987's "A Momentary Lapse In Reason."..... Gotta love "Learning to Fly" and of course the inspiring "On The Turning Away." I had some Best Buy bucks and they didn't have "Animals" so I bought that one.. not that I haven't heard it. This time I'm sure that David Gilmour sang ever song, it's in the jacket .
"On The Turning Away" should have been sung instead of the "We Are The World" shit all those stars sang. (I know some of you know what I'm talking about)
