okay so i went dual core this week (wednesday AMD 4200 x2) and im now gonna use my old cpu in my vista pc - so i ordered a foxconn mobo with socket 939 and its got pci express slot - so im gonna swap shit around and use that for my main pc - move my old mobo over to the Vista box along with my ATIX1300pro and im looking for a pci-E gfx card which would you buy and i dont wanna spend more than 150 - the 7600 nvidea or 1950 ati ? or something else ! cos im fucked if im gonna pay the prices at bestbuy for a shitty 7600gs when theres better on newegg.. its been a while since i got my head around a gfx card since the ati1600 / 7600gt were out so heads up please
If you can wait i little bit longer the 8600 series is supposed to come out mid-late april and are going to be very cheap(130-180 depending on the model, gt,ultra, etc) and perform very well.
I'd go with the one Anson pointed out. Although I have heard that Nvidia drivers aren't quite up to speed with Vista yet, so you may want to take that into consideration if it is gonna be in the Vista machine... not sure if it is, I'm kind of confused about which card is going where from your post.

ok to clarify - new mobo - with my current X2 "into my main pc" current mobo and old cpu - into vista - and old X1300 into vista - new gfx card into new mobo too .. shesh i know kinda hard to describe
i know gimme shit but its cheaper and it will do what i need it to - that card you gave me a link for was good but i havent used a geforce card since my FX5500
so its X1950GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card
I would have just gone with an 8800GTS/GTX if it's going in a new computer and is going to be your main gaming machine, especially since you were saying the other day how you had money to spend on some "new toys."
yeah but i aint spending that much on a phreaking gfx card lol
Yeah, I guess. The way I look at it is buy an expensive "top of the line" card and you don't have to worry about upgrading so often like you do if you buy a middle of the line, reasonably priced card.
I bought my X850XT PE when it was released for around 550 dollars and that was a little over 3 years ago. I can still play all the new games out there at high graphics settings. The specs on my card are pretty close to the ones of that you bought, I was really surprised to see that.
http://www.guru3d.com/article/content/176/2/ Theres the one I have, its on the far right of that chart. Memory frequency is low compared to the newer cards, but for being 3 years old it still hangs in there.
oh yeah i nearly pissed my pants with jackals comment " yeah its a good card man that 800 " but fuck thats like saying your 89 mustang is gonna beat a 07 GT - yeah it might come close " CLOSE " being the word and I dont need to spend alot of money on a DX10 card - "like there is much with DX10 out anyway " and considering when i go for that card like you say at least i havent spent 500bucks on an X800 ... cos the price will be lower.. i dont want a "my dicks bigger than your dick graphics card i just want something pci-e and an all round performance bang for the buck compared to my X1300pro it kicks its ass.
