For anyone who picked this card up through the little Woot off a couple months ago, they've finally released signed drivers for the card so you can run it in 64 bit versions of the OS without disabling driver signature enforcement. You can grab the Vista driver HERE or the XP driver HERE. I haven't gone through the release notes so I don't know if there's any reason to update your driver if you're not running 64 bit.

Nice !! even though I don't have one , but I'm done with creative junk , after they went after that guy for making vista drivers for his card because they wouldn't , so you would have to buy another card fuck them. Which by the way if anyone else has a another manufacturer card that you like please let me know , so when I build my next system that will give me idea's.

Ars Technica just released an update for their System Builds. They have listed some alternatives like "Bluegears b-Inspirer and Asus Xonar D2X".

Here are the links if you wanna read the full thing (you can just skip to the sound card section).

Hot Rod
God Box

I've had two creative cards, an Audigy 24bit and a Sound Blaster 5.1... Had issues with both of them. I know everyone in vent about a year ago had enough of my damn Audigy card, all that damn squealing every time I minimized a window, LOL. Same with Stu's! Delta's been through two(i think maybe even three) Fatal1ty Xfi cards too. Confused

You're certainly the exception rather than the rule if you've never had problems. Creative DOES NOT make the best sound cards, they've simply had the market cornered for a very long time. That dominance is coming to an end and I for one welcome it. Creative has done the most work as far as keeping the gamer in mind (think eax,) but I challenge you to find one audiophile running a Creative card.
