from what i've heard the AC1 + HP1 combo is amazing. However, since I already have an amazing sound card (for gaming, music, movies, etc.), I think I'll pass on this. Although, those of you looking for a sick sound card should get this... $70 is cheap compared to the normal price ($199.99). You save $130.
Although, your normal headphones won't plug into this, since it only accepts the Razer High Definition-Dedicated Audio Interface™ (HD-DAI™ connector), located on the HP1 headset.
I was thinking about getting the Barracuda card and then picking up the headset later, but their products are kinda shaky and I don't wanna waste that much money on something and have it now work.
I don't know if anyone remembers, but I ended up with this card instead of the headset when I RMAd the headset. Anyway, I finally broke down and bought another headset(with the 2 year replacement warranty) and installed the card. It's a freaking awesome combo. If you have the headset, it's WELL WORTH the $70 for the card. And, for those that have a 5.1 receiver close by, the card has a toslink out connection and actually outputs dolby digital in games and movies which onboard usually won't do(at least in games.) It takes a little tweaking to get the sound just right, but once you've got it, it kicks butt. One other note, the card also has a toslink digital in connection for anyone looking to do digital sound recording.
geek, that's exactly what i heard: the combo is amazing. However, since I already have the Fatal1ty Champion Series, I don't really see the need since the HP1's come with a crossover connector. The problem with the AC1 is that if you don't have the headset they're pretty much useless. if they have this deal again i'd consider.
Just so we're clear, you do know that the AC-1 comes with an adapter to go from the HD-DAI connector to standard jacks correct? Not trying to be a smart ass, just wanted to be sure antone considering this card knows you can use it with ANY headphones or speakers.
