COD4 SERVER FOR TESTINGPosted:

I've put up a cod4 server for us to mess with, check it out see if it is something we could get going. My connection speed is 16 meg down and 2 meg up so my upload is around a true 250K, let me know what you think
well, trying to rule out my shitty internet and the fact it's in the US while i'm in europe right now, the server seems to run allright. good choice on the HC def, and if we do end up making a clan server, i find lately i enjoy random servers, where it changes gameplay every map. other than that, dunno what to say. haven't really seen any major mods or addons or plugins or whatever for servers. there are custom maps out there, but again, i don't think they're so popular. i'm just waiting for the new maps to be released on PC.

it lets me install it ok. but when i go to play it it turns black and then just shuts off i uninstalled and reinstalled like 12 times and it never worked
the server here should have no probs its a dual xeon 2.4 with 4 gigs of ram. As far as cod4 crashing to desktop try updating the game then updating directx and your video card drivers
as far as perks, I think we should have server rule for no last stand or martyrdom, the hard core setting pretty much takes care of the juggernaut bitches
so far i have never seen last stand banned, it's really not that big of a deal i think. martyrdom i can see, but only if you're deaf will you die from martyrdom really. and yeah, juggernaut's not such a big deal on HC. the only other question is banning the N00b tube, but again, i think it's part of the game and not such a big deal

what do you hate about the perks geek? there's the old school mode that might appeal to you, but i haven't really ever seen a server hosting that....
I have no tolerance for taking someone out only to get naded or shot in the back after the fact. If someone goes down like they're dead, they should be freaking dead! I just couldn't play any more after so many times getiing a rhythm going only to get cheap shotted.
I've played in a couple servers that had rules for no martyrdom or last stand, most players that had it on it only took asking and they switched or class or just took it off, it really didn't cause any problems. As naughty said, those perks are cheap, but the biggest thing i hate is when you take someone down at a distance and someone else on your team gets the kill because they run up and find them layin down with a pistol.
