i installed win7 with no problems. you just may want to be sure that there are vista drivers for it and have them ready on an external disk or hard drive to use b/c it's driver base still needs work.

and i'm loving windows 7 and never used vista....

7 is the shit , I love it . Vista blows. I also heard some folks on the net saying it runs good on older hardware, but I haven't tried that yet. I have had no problems what so ever running this.

I recommend 7 as well. Windows 7 will be released October 22nd so it would be pointless in my opinion to spend $200 on an OS when a new one is due out in 4 months.

i have vista utl 64. i got it for free!! in fact i got two free copies. it came with a 32bit and a 64bit keys. i sold the 32bit versions for $100 each and gave nine the other 64bit. so i already have vista 64. i was going to set up raid again since my new case has room for all my hdds. so i'm going to have to reinstall.

yeah. windows 7 is really stable. as much as i've been using it, it seems as stable and fast as XP if not more stable and faster.

also on the plus side, raid works great with windows 7. i think with vista i still needed to install with the raid drivers and it never seemed to work right, whereas win7 didn't even ask for a disk for raid and just installed it right.

win7 >>>>>>>>>> vista (that's win7 is much much much much much much much better than vista, =)

The thing about Windows 7 is that it's just a test right now. Microsoft has finally figured out that you can't charge people for a non-tested software. So they are doing what Linux has done for the past 10 years. They will release you a copy to try and then they will monitor your problems and solve them for the copy that will be released.

um, i'm dual booting 2 hard drives one with, xp64 /the other with vista 64 ultimate, so what ever problems i have with vista, at least i can boot into xp. did you score windows 7 for free ? or is it still available to try for free ? i dont see myself buying it unless its cheap enough.

free beta, but they just shut down the downloads for the RC disc, so you'll have to download it off of torrents or something. but you can still sign up for a key. and you can use it for like 90 or 120 days i think though, before they start automatic shutdowns every 2 hours.

yeah, they had a preorder deal for just a little bit that you could get a upgrade copy for $50. i missed it though... but they do have a family pack with i think 3 licenses for around $150 if you can split it with some friends.
