yeah, i've been wanting to buy these for awhile as well. the price point kills me, but it's almost more the capacity too. 160gb isn't gonna do it, and then 2 of them would cost $1000, yikes!

now if only i could afford 24 of them like this group did....

I got two engineering samples back in Mid summer 2009 (very early to catch on), the Intel X25-E 64 gig models running in one desktop. I'm gonna sell my 3rd, a retail X25-E 64gig on eBay, not sure how much I can hock up for it, I'm shooting for around ~$500 though.

I got the hookup a while ago from someone who I cannot disclose, but had access to engineering samples, hehehehhehehee

Yes, once you go SSD, you can't really go back.

That youtube video is so old school, you gotta laugh at those old shitty samsung memory controllers, I know the video was made a few years ago. But these days you can have things for way better. Besides, SSD's still are not mature technology, despite the fact that they are now in the mainstream market, both OCZ and intel have their own set of issues. My issue with intel was that after I updated the firmware to 8850 on the retail drive (you can't update firmwares on engineering samples), intel took the firmware update off the site...

TRIM support is iffy, you can't pull it off in RAID, although it shouldn't matter too much as of now. Also Intel refuses to support TRIM in their first generation drives, I don't know if its a physical limitation or they're just being dicks trying to pimp out their G2's.

In my opinion, stick to the OCZ drives, they're more suitable for gaming.
