I just want to thank you for playing on the T3 servers. We are always happy to help fellow players espicially when it comes to development of new material.
Keep up the good work. If the map is anything like the screenshots I think the community will enjoy playing it.
On that note, here is the first test version. This is an early version, so please keep this in the community for now. I'm only release'n this version so you guys can look around the map for errors, areas you dont like, fps drop, or just stuff you would like to mention. Have fun and, unzip into your DOD:S folder. That should put all the files you need in the right spot.
Well, I noticed some problems with that version. I have already fixed...
- random clipping errors (where edges are and how player movement responds to these edges)
- (both spawns had some areas where players would get stuck on objects they should walk over)
- added proper cubemaps (this will stop the MG's from glowing weird)
- added sound scapes
- added smoke comming out of destroyed tanks
- added more bushes/trees/sandbags (only a few)
- added craters (for look and to hide in)
- optimizations (added more HINT brushes to boost FPS)
For now, let me know of any problems with that version. It does not have a .res file, so u'll have to make one if ur doing a public playtest. However, I would like it if we didnt put the map on, largely public servers untill I release BETA 2. Lucky for you, this will probably be released tonite around 6-7pm Central US time. Install the zip and rar into DOD:S folder. The other 2 go into your map folders (the ones not in the zip or rar.) The res file might not work, but im pretty sure it does. It would be great if someone tested it out for me. The TXT file just give credit to the flak cannon modeler and texture artist. Have fun, and I hope to see it on a public T3 server soon
Because of all the different .rar's, errors, and bugs I and others have found in my map, ive decided to just create a new version. This new version should be solid for your server. The only thing I might change in the future are the spawns to provide a little more protection. The current changes from b2 are, if i can remember all of them...
- added occluders (boost FPS)
- cleaned up spawns (geometry)
- included missing files
- fixed .res file
- fixed the starting in the trench problem
- added sound scapes
- added dev cameras
- added a few more hints (boost FPS)
- added a few more props
- other optimizations
- minor bug fixes
I tried to make a minimap, but it didnt work. When I went to take a SS of the entire map from above, my map was all black. Not sure why that happened.
- removed some proprs (for better frames and to "open" the map a little)
- changed and added occluders (for better frames)
- changed and added HINT (for better frames)
- changed trenches under the ground (they look better, better FPS)
- changed wood texture to stop that strange blue glow
- fixed player clip brushes
- fixed minor bugs
This will probably be the final release of this map. Please test though! Feedback will be great. Next I will have a BG port to dod for you guys. It will also be a uniqu map, but I'll talk about that later.
