Not new, but for anyone looking to upgrade their RAM, I've noticed on newegg.com that RAM prices have dropped dramatically! For example, "gaming" ram that I was looking at just under 2 months ago at 270 dollars has dropped to 100.99 recently.

I'd get it but my mobo requires DDR 400. I'm looking at these:

tell me what you think.

You won't regret going with those. Unfortunately, the memory pricing is still high for standard DDR. DDR2 is where the sweet pricing is at.

Seems that the prices of processors have dropped a ton too! Intel has a new line of 1333mhz fsb processors out that are pretty damn cheap, all with 4mb Cache too! My E6600 is only 229 bucks now!

Yup, Intel introduced a price cut at the end of July to cut AMD's legs out from under them before they could even extend them. This was done in prep for the Barcelona launch next month. You can now get the Q6600 for < $300. That's right, a quad core for less than $300. AMD is going to be fighting an uphill battle here considering that they intend to launch with performance <= current Intel parts. Gonna be tough to recoup their R&D investment since they won't have a "high end" part to gouge with. With the dismal failure of their 2900XT video cards, it would appear that AMD is "on the ropes." Let us all hope and pray they don't go "down for the count" or Intel will go back to their old ways of gouging the customer and both processor and video technology will stagnate once again. Sad

I just wish that something I actually needed for my computer would drop in price, like graphics cards!

i'm thinking of getting a Core 2 Duo or a Quad Core, but in doing so i'll have to get a new mobo, memory, and so forth. So i gotta choose wisely.

Your right I hope they don't go under, it would fuck us in the end. I wish the 3rd party chips would rise again and put some more competition on them . Wink
